Mason's - Theme Update & Shopify Plus Instance Unification

Mason's , an Italian luxury clothing brand founded in 1974, commissioned Hoculus to analyze and optimize its Shopify Plus instances . This work involved several regional sites (masons.it, de.masons.it, en.masons.it, fr.masons.it, us.masons.it) to aim to unify these instances, update the theme and optimize the management of online sales without negatively impacting SEO .

The main goal was to leverage the capabilities of Shopify marketplaces to improve the efficiency and consistency of the online store.


Some tasks completed

  • Updating Core Theme While Keeping Customizations : We have successfully updated the core theme from version 2.3.0 to 3.4.0, making sure to keep all the customizations implemented.

  • Development of automations for theme translation : advanced automations have been developed for the retrieval from the corresponding store of the theme translation, products and collections.

  • Image Alt Text Translation : We have completed the translation of the alternative texts (Alt text) of the images, improving both the accessibility of the site and the SEO optimization.

  • Collections linked and ordered differently : collections are now linked and ordered differently, offering more intuitive and targeted navigation for the various market segments.

  • Differentiated feeds based on the viewed market : Specific feeds have been implemented for each viewed market, ensuring that customers receive content and products relevant to their region.

  • Translation Navigation and Menus : The site's navigation and menus have been translated, providing a seamless and localized user experience for international visitors.
  • Sitemap comparison and audit : We performed a sitemap comparison and audit to ensure that they are fully aligned across different versions of the site, improving consistency and search engine indexing.

  • Domain Transfer and Connect to Marketplaces : We managed the domain transfer and connected them to the marketplaces, optimizing the site structure to improve access and user experience.

  • Change blog theme and 404 redirects replicating the behavior of the previously installed app : We made changes to the blog theme and managed 404 redirects, replicating the behavior of the previously installed apps to maintain traffic continuity and user experience.

  • Handle Check : We have performed a detailed handle check and created the necessary redirects to ensure that all links are working properly.

  • Custom Liquid Translation : Finally, we completed the translation of the Custom Liquid codes, ensuring that all customizations are properly localized and functional.

Results

Hoculus’s intervention has enabled Mason’s to more efficiently manage online sales , providing a consistent and optimized user experience globally. The theme update and centralized management have improved operational efficiency , maintaining SEO integrity and improving the site’s accessibility for users in different languages.
